About

First of all I hate it when there is a section 'About me'! How the heck can you sum someone up in a paragraph? Anyway, here goes.

My name is Charl J. Naudé (the 6th if it means anything to you), I'm as old as there are hours in a day (aha made you think there for a second!).

I was born in the lovely Jacaranda City (look it up :D) (Pretoria, South Africa for you lazies out there).  Grew up on a small country town, De Aar, where I faced lots of conflict and trials (but some good times too) as can be expected from a small conservative town, but luckily, in my early youth, I returned to my home city.  Finished High School there and went to study at the University of Pretoria.

I wanted to become a video editor and enrolled for a BIS (Multimedia) degree that said you can become that, however after the first year of extreme torture where I learned how to build a computer chip, code in Assembly (the most basic language of a computer which no human being should know except Bill Gates), got familiar with the illness depression and I found out that the degree was not going to make me a video editor.  I changed degrees (even after being in the Top 5 first years, despite my dislike towards it). I went to the University of Johannesburg to study BA (Audiovisual Production). After finding myself somewhere in the middle of my third year (and my big love!) I really started doing well, raking in most of the big internal awards, surprising even myself.  I carried on to do my honours in audiovisual production, which I achieved cum laude (yes I know it sounds braggy, but hey I worked my butt off, so I can say it as many times as I like! Cum laude. Cum laude. Cum laude. Top student. Best director. Best art director. Best project. Okay you get the point.) Watch some of my videos here.

So I started working about 2 months after finishing my degree, thanks to the recommendation from a good friend and fellow ex-student, Gideon (who I might add also got his honours degree cum laude). We are editors at Red Pepper Picturesa well known South African production company. In my spare time I work on other creative projects under Kilroy Was Here! Productions (with Gideon) where we are the boss. Capeesh?!

But now you ask why I am here... Blogging... So for quite a while I've been craving the feeling you get when you start painting and the picture just bleeds out of you onto the canvas and the next thing you know the painting is done and you are not exactly sure how it happened, it just flowed out of you (yes I am very dramatic, but that's how it feels, love it or hate it!), but there is nothing that I really want to paint, however there is a lot that I want to say, particularly about movies, TV shows and anything I find interesting.

I never really understood the reason behind it or found blogs interesting until I saw the blog Venus Rotates Clockwise, by Lelanie Slater which I found very personal and addictive.  She now writes on her blog of beauty and love. So this is why I'm deciding to blog.  Now I also get to utilize the journalism experience from varsity.  I might not be the best writer, you might not like what I say, and that's fine, to each his own.  But I hope there is someone (or many someones) that will enjoy my ramblings.  If you do, let me know, say something, lets chat.  If you don't, well let me know too, I love hearing other opinions!
